CITY OF MORE HEAD — Carteret Community College will host a festival weekend, Celebration on the Sound, which will feature concerts, a carnival, vendors and more.
The event will take place from Thursday to Sunday from May 12 to 15.
The Crystal Coast Tourism Development Authority is sponsoring the celebration.
The inaugural event will include music concerts on Friday and Saturday nights with Parmalee and Avery Anna, and Randy Houser and Shy Carter, a carnival, a community performance stage, arts and crafts vendors and bonfires. artifice.
“With the culmination of the fundraising campaign, we are thrilled to invite everyone to campus to see its transformation,” said Daniel Fischler, chairman of the Carteret Community College Foundation board of trustees. “The board has been focused on completing the fundraising campaign. We are delighted to devote our full attention to raising funds to meet the needs of students and to improve the programs of the college. Proceeds from Celebration on the Sound will be used for these purposes.
Celebration on the Sound opens at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 12 with a carnival and unlimited wristbands available for purchase. On Saturday, May 14, local arts and crafts vendors will have exhibits on campus near the historic Camp Glenn building, and the college will host a community stage from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. that will feature many bands local. The carnival will also offer unlimited bracelets for purchase from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
On Friday, the weekend will be in full swing with the first paid music concert featuring Avery Anna and Parmalee. Parmalee is one of country music’s most successful bands. The platinum-selling band of brothers are one of four bands since 2001 to earn three consecutive Top 10 singles from a country debut album.

The college plans to have a fireworks display during intermission around 8:30 a.m. Tickets for the Parmalee/Avery Anna concert are $30 each for general admission and $125 for VIP tickets.
On Saturday, May 14, Randy Houser and Shy Carter will take the stage with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the concert at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Houser had three consecutive No. 1 hits with his album, How Country Feels, and won critical acclaim for its Top 5 hit and “Like A Cowboy,” nominated for CMA Song of the Year. Mr Houser added a fourth No. 1 to his catalog with “We Went” from his 2016 album Fired Up.
