American music production company Yessian celebrates 50 years, moves from 300 square foot bait shop to national and international studios with audio projects for top brands around the world

Founded in 1971 by an award-winning composer Dan Yessian, the business started in a 300 square foot bait shop in the subway Detroit. Yessian’s early successes in creating jingles for companies such as Whirlpool, Dodge, Ford Motor Company and Frigidaire, as well as music for TV shows like Sesame Street and The electricity company, enabled the creation of dedicated studios. Since working alongside his two sons Brian Yessian, head of operations; and Michel Yessian, production manager, Dan Yessian was able to grow the business into a global business with producers, composers, music supervisors, research creators and recording artists creating revolutionary and award-winning sound. The company maintains additional locations in Los Angeles, New York City and Hamburg, germany, totaling 20,000 square feet of studios and offices.

“I was an English teacher with a dream: to make music. I left teaching in Detroit public schools to start making jingles in a small space that I rented for. $ 50 a month, and luckily I was kissed by the Detroit advertising community ”, says Dan Yessian, who was inducted into the Adcraft Hall of Fame in 2018. “Now, with my sons, who have taken the business to a level I could never have imagined, and with an extremely talented team, our scope is current includes music for theme parks around the world as well as network television and global advertising for Fortune 500 companies. Our business is all about telling stories and experiences through sound, and every year we continue to take new steps. ”

Notable in this work was a project that took the Yessian team to Abbey Road Studios in London, England, where Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” was rearranged and recorded for a United Airlines commercial; and Changsha in China, for the audio creation accompanying a 5D Theater Experience film celebrating the birthplace of Chinese pottery. Yessian was also asked to provide sound for the One World Observatory which opened in 2015 on the site of the former World Trade Center in New York City; and in 2019, the company created a 360-degree audio experience for the Aerosmith Group Residence in Las Vegas.
