Concert Seen: Sugarcult (at the Flipside Festival) Location: Some place in the middle of Virginia (I forgot the actual name of the townI) Rate?: Good Comment: It was at the Flipside Festival that I saw Sugarcult for the first time. Flipside Festival is an all day festival consisting mostly of local bands in the beginning of the day, and finishing with nation-wide acts like Sugarcult, Fall Out Boy, Wakefield, and others at the end of the day. It was loads of fun. Sugarcult was the last act, so naturally I was tired from being at the Festival all day. My two friends and I were sitting on the opposite stage facing the one that Sugarcult was playing on. (To make the day go quicker, there was a local stage off somewhere outside, and then two stages facing each other on the inside. They alternated stages so you wouldn't have to wait for them to take a long time to set up.) Anyways, we had a great view from there and actually had no desire what-so-ever to go up closer. There was really no point. So when the band started playing, the whole crowd went crazy and from what I saw people were really, really enjoying themselves. I, myself, was starting to get a headache, so that might have put a damper on my experience with Sugarcult. It did entertain me, however, when the lead singer proclaimed that he had eaten the last of the KFC chicken which had belonged to the girl working their merch table (they had merch tables set up for all the bands around the perimeter of the room). And he apologized. Very amusing if you ask me. But anyways, they were back on to playing music and I was really glad when they played "Stuck in America" because it's my favorite song by them. Oh, and everyone went crazy, as I predicted, during "Bouncing Off the Walls". I don't even know if that's the proper name for that song, but whatever. So anyways, Sugarcult were good, but not amazing. If you are a huge fan of theirs, I'd say that you would have a pretty good time. |
